Day 1: Amazing approach to Mai Chau and Pu Luong (L,D) (170 km):
Depart for Mai Chau in early morning, transfer to Lac village, and the home of a Thai ethnic minority group. After lunch, you can wander around the houses to see the daily life of local people. They specialize in weaving brocade products and are happy to show visitors their skills. Take a drive of 15kms and board a rowing sampan to paddle along the Ma River stopping en-route to visit some of the nearby ethnic minorities villages. Again boat ferries across the river, we hit the road to Hang village where we will be having dinner and stay at their traditional Thai house on stilts.
Day 2: Mai Chau stop again with traditional music show by local Thai ladies (B,L):
Breakfast at local house, then at 8 am starts our trek inside Pu Luong Nature Reserve (back on some of the same routes) then take 3 hour walk to the place where our car stop and transfer to Poom Coom village for lunch. After lunch, enjoy the traditional music show by Thai ladies. Leave Mai Chau around 15h00 for coming back to Hanoi.

All meals, which are indicated in the itinerary, are included in the price of this trip. While in big towns we will enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in fine restaurants. Once we travel away from big towns, the emphasis will be on healthy and nutritious fresh local produce.
Homestay-unique experience:
Homestay in villages is simple in term of bedding condition and toilet, clean and located beside a spring with a good view. We will sleep on beds with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet is usually flush-style. The hosts are very friendly and eager to please. Usually, the host family or guide will cook meals for you, but will not join in out of respect for the guests. Sunrise breakfast and then check out your hotel get ready for our last trek. You first sneak through the market and leave the busy town behind. After a couple of minutes, you will follow a road going down hill to Cat Cat village. You will stop by a waterfall and a hydroelectric station. Take a rest here before you trek downhill to get Sin Chai village. Enjoy beautiful scenery on the way back to Sapa town for lunch. You will have free time to discover by yourself in the afternoon. Dinner is for your choice. Back to hotel for shower and then our car will transfer you to Lao Cai station for overnight train back to Hanoi

You will head toward Su Pan from where you will commence your walk through the breathtaking scenery. On the way you will pass through the Ban Ho village where you will be able to witness the stunning views of the valley and rice paddy terraces. You will have the opportunity to explore the Tay village of Ban Ho before crossing the suspension bridge over the river. The walk then continues through the rice fields to the Red Dao village of Nam Tong, where your guide will prepare a delicious lunch in a local house.
After lunch you will go swimming by a waterfall before you start your journey back to Topas Eco Lodge, where you arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 3: Topas – Giang Ta Chai – Ta Van – Lao Chai – Sapa town – Overnight train back to Hanoi (B, L)
After having breakfast in the lodge, you will commence your trek today by taking the jeep on the road back to Sapa. After around 20 minutes, you will arrive to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao ethnic minority hill tribe village, where the trek begins. You will have more then 2 hours walk through the bamboo forest to Ta Van village. Ta Van is the only village in Sapa area inhabited by the Giay ethnic minority. You will have time to walk around the village, visiting the school, and enjoying your picnic lunch. From Ta Van, it will take a 2 hours easy walk through the terraced rice field to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai. Here the jeep will collect you for the journey to Sapa. The rest of the day is free at you leisure. You will enjoy your dinner in a nice restaurant in town.
At 19h00, you will have a transfer to Lao Cai Railways Station for the night train back to Hanoi, which depart at 21h15.

After visiting waterfall, your boat enters the quite lake with emerald water and bird singing, visit the Fairy pond. Get off the boat, trek about 3 kms in the tropical forest to Pac Ngoi village. Have dinner cooked by locals and overnight in their home.
Day 4: Babe - Cao Bang (B,L,D)
After breakfast check out Pac Ngoi village and Babe lakes we take about 2 hours to walk on the flat road through the National Park. Our driver meets and takes you to Cao Bang. It is at Cao Bang that the H'Mong, Zao, Tho and Nung ethnic minority people live in harmony. After lunch we will visit Pac Po, Ho Chi Minh's hideout. From there it is a 3 hours trek to a village of Nung minority people. Late afternoon, we drive back to Cao Bang. Have dinner and overnight in Cao Bang.

Take a scenic day trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc waterfall. After that, have lunch on the way back to Cao Bang town. After breakfast, head to Sapa. along the base of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range, home to Mt. Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak. At Binh Lu junction you'll pick up the main road and start your climb up the highest mountain pass in Vietnam at 1900 Meters, then glide down into the town of Sapa. Enjoy lunch and relax before a quite hard 3 hr short trek down to Ta Van village. Overnight with homestay. Our guide will cook a savory dinner of traditional Vietnamese food. Day 4: Ta Van – Sapa – Cat Cat – Sin Chai (B,L,D)
Prepare carefully before the last trek. Take a rest at Cat Cat village before you trek downhill to get Sin Chai village. You will have free time to discover by yourself in the afternoon. Overnight in Sapa.
Day 5 : Saturday Sapa – Can Cau – Bac Ha (B,L,D)
Depart for Can Cau early in the morning. Opening only on Saturdays, it always delivers a very photogenic display of Flower Hmong, Black Zao, Phu La ethnic costumes. After spending the whole morning exploring the market, you will leave the market for Bac Ha town for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take a walk to Ban Pho village of Nung and Flower Hmong, which is located in a small valley. You will go back to the hotel late in the afternoon and then have dinner in a local restaurant.

We will spend the afternoon to walk around the two connecting villages, learn more about the ethnic Thai people and finally experience their. Enjoy dinner followed by traditional dances and a taste of the local rice wine, an experience in itself. Sleep well in local home, preparation for tomorrow.

We will drive about the same distances as we made in our trip to Mai Chau. In the afternoon we visit the Prison Museum in Son La which remains as a poignant reminder of the inequities of the former French colonial rule. Dinner and sleep at the Cong Doan Hotel.

Feel ready to drive to the colorful market of Thuan Chau. Visit blue Hmong village at Phadin Pass, lunch in Tuan Giao before making our way to Dien Bien Phu. Day 7: Sapa - Ban Ho (B, L, D)
Along the rice terraces to Dzao hill tribe and down to a rolling stream for a picnic lunch. After lunch continue trekking along trails and dirty road into Ban Ho for an insightful night with your Tay hosts where you will sleep in the cozy loft complete with comfy mattress and a mosquito net.
Day 8: Ban Ho - Sapa - Lao Cai - Night train (B, L):

For this day depending on your flight we will arrange a suitable city tour for you to get some first impressions of Hanoi - the capital. Day 2: Hanoi - Mai Chau (B, L, D)
In our Jeep, we start from your hotel and hit the road through the infamous traffic of Hanoi. Heading towards Hoa Binh Province, we pass through passes and valleys then wind our way downhill to Mai Chau valley. We will spend the afternoon to walk around the two connecting villages, learn more about the ethnic Thai people and finally experience their. Enjoy dinner followed by traditional dances and a taste of the local rice wine, an experience in itself. Sleep well in local home, preparation for tomorrow.
Day 3: Mai Chau - Moc Chau - Son La (B,L,D):
We will drive about the same distances as we made in our trip to Mai Chau. In the afternoon we visit the Prison Museum in Son La which remains as a poignant reminder of the inequities of the former French colonial rule. Dinner and sleep at the Cong Doan Hotel.
Day 4: Son La - Dien Bien Phu (B, L, D):
Feel ready to drive to the colorful market of Thuan Chau. Visit blue Hmong village at Phadin Pass, lunch in Tuan Giao before making our way to Dien Bien Phu. Arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, our Driver will pick you up and transfer to your hotel. Relax after your journey before a ‘Welcome dinner’ at a traditional restaurant with Vietnamese cuisine. In the evening, you will have tickets for a performance of traditional Water Puppetry, an art form unique to northern Vietnam, and a good, light-hearted introduction to its rural culture, over night in Hanoi Imperial hotel.
7h30pm, our guide will take you to train station for night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train.
Upon arrival in Sapa Town we have breakfast in local restaurant, enjoy Sapa pure atmosphere. Then, in the afternoon, prepare for a great trek down to the picturesque valley of Muong Hoa. We will walk on small paths and trails to reach Lao Chai and Tavan Village to visit the Tay and Day tribes, where we will have unique homestay experience among hill tribe people, dinner and over night in the local house.
In the morning, you leave for Giang Ta Chai village of Red Dao minority. You will trek through bamboo forest which belongs to Hoang Lien National Park. On the way you will find a nice place to enjoy lunch, after lunch, going up to the main road where you will be picked up by jeep. Ride back to Sapa and you might stop some times on the way to take photos of the fabulous valley of Sapa. Check in Chau long hotel. Enjoy the night in the cloud town.

Notes on Fansipan Climbs: Climb a 3413 ASL Mountain in just two days takes some effort, endurance and plenty of high spirit. The night will be spent in tent with toilet tent provided. The trip is not recommended in bad weather due to safety
The camping ground : Our camp for the evening will be in a very small clearing on the mountain enclosed by bamboo. You will be provided with twin shared tent, sleeping bag and air mattress .
Altitude: Fansipan is almost 3150 meter above sea level. The risk for altitude sickness is very low.
Trails conditions:One of the things which make Fansipan at challenging experience is the lack of prepared trails. The conditions of the trails very much depend on the weather conditions, and will be slippery in rainy weather.
Walking hours: Depending on your route the walking hours can vary from 6 – 11 hours per day. Normally the summit day is long, with start early and return to the camp late afternoon.
Camps: There is only 1 prepared camp at Fansipan. All other overnight places are small, without any facilities.
Sanitary conditions: In one camp simple toilet facilities has been made.
Equipment: We will provide you with the necessary camping equipment. To climb Fansipan we strongly recommend good walking boots or shoes. Furthermore a warm sweater and a rain jacket are necessary.
Food/water: Our guide and cook will prepare delicious food on the way. We use ceramic filters to purify our drinking water.
Weather: As mentioned the trail conditions will be difficult in rainy weather. It is not recommendable to climb Fansipan in heavy rain due to security. If GAT believes that the fitness of the group do not meet the requirements of the weather situation, we do have the rights to cancel or re-schedule the trip.
